Thanksgiving is over, everyone has gone, I am slowly returning to my pre-Thanksgiving life. We have enumerated our blessings, speaking aloud our thankfulness. Relationships were the main category, but …items such as; health, shelter, food (such good food and so much of it!), a sense of worth and usefulness, happiness and creativity were not overlooked.

I have said before, and I will say again, my morning cup of coffee is right up there with my purring, meowing cat, the remnants of fall’s colorful leaves dancing in the garden, my need for a warm sweater, my son, Seth, who helps with all things computer, my computer, books – I love holding a book, archaic though it may sound to the Kindle crowd and the brisk air that heralds in the next season, winter.
It is time for Chanukah and Christmas shopping, thoughts of what to get for whom. Gift giving is an art form, sometimes I’m into it, sometimes not. While my immediate family is handled, I started looking just today for my extended family. That’s because the Jets/Dolphins game I was watching was so awful for the Jets that I had to leave my house and do something else, anything else.
I also love working (if I can call it that, I’m sort of retired) from home. I can stay in pajamas well into the afternoon if I choose, do what I want, when I want, looking like I want. It’s not a bad gig. I can look through poetry I’d written decades ago and add them to The Writer’sCafe…speaking of which, please go to: http://stiltedstories.com/poetry/wendy-karasin. and see some of them. The individual who began this website lives in Spain and is a talented writer in his own right. I met him at Writer’sCafe. He’s created a website to highlight the works of writers possessing some intangible that calls to him. The form; poetry, short story, essay or prose matters less than whether he feels they would be useful, enjoyable and educational to readers. Pretty cool, no?
I suppose my home must be added to things to be grateful for, the one in which we share Thanksgiving and so many other gatherings, where we join together to share food, time and stories that matter. In the scheme of so much, not a bad life.
