Day 4: Today’s assignment: follow five new topics in the Reader, and begin finding blogs (and bloggers) you love.
This is a challenge. I haven’t used Reader to any worth while degree and I can see why. As I went through the tutorial and the actual Reader button on WordPress, I was not helped, nor was the experience made clearer. Not good. I want to learn how to be a better blogger, how to reach out to the blogging community, and read other bloggers’ posts. I’m very picky about who I spend my time reading and I want to enjoy the experience and relate to the blogger and his/her perspective. I also want to be comfortable with their style and learn from their words. These are not, IMHO, outrageous requests.
Locating the type of blogs I’m interested in, ought to be a pleasant and easily maneuverable experience. Even for technologically challenged individuals like myself. I’m not even going to get started with the new computer from Staples that I was so excited about. It’s driving me near insanity. I have spent more hours in Staples in the last few days than I care to – I’m on my way back there soon. UGH!
Challenge for WordPress – make Reader more user friendly, so I can figure it out quickly, find what I’m looking for and feel successful in locating more blogs to read. Feel free to contact me, oh and there’s another issue – I send you comments and questions and NEVER receive a response. REALLY? I love writing blogs on your platform, but you guys need to put some effort into your communication and customer service. Perhaps more interface between a blogger like myself (not a techie) and the people who work at WordPress (almost all techies) is not a bad idea. I guess we all have that in common – room for improvement.
I am not participating in the “Zero To Hero” challenge, but still found your remarks informative. I’m not particularly techno-savvy either, and it’s reassuring to know I’m not alone in that!
You are assuredly not alone! We writers and techies need to find common ground – we need each other!
Good luck!
Thank you, Lillian.
